A Culinary Journey Rooted in Passion


It all began in 1991, within the setting of The Hollins Hey Hotel in New Brighton. A young chef stepped into the kitchen not merely to work, but to pursue a calling. That moment marked the beginning of a 35-year voyage dedicated to the pursuit of culinary excellence.



Prestige, Precision & 35 Years' Experience


Throughout his career, Chris has mastered his art in some of the world's most esteemed kitchens: Stratford Manor, Gary Rhodes at City Rhodes, The Arkle Restaurant, The Royal Lancaster London and Chester Grosvenor Hotel, among others.


His creations have consistently reflected finesse, restraint and a deep reverence for quality: hallmarks of fine dining.


Amongst his many other accolades, Chris has also provided corporate catering for all three of Merseyside's major football teams and players: Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs as well as Tranmere Rovers. He also provides corporate catering to organisations including FourSquare Training.

ROCKWOOD Restaurant - Our Origin Story

The History of ROCKWOOD Restaurant


Christopher and Pauline bought the building for ROCKWOOD Restaurant in 2013, where it had stood derelict and untouched for 30 years.


Previously a pet shop in a beautiful Victorian seaside parade, they saw it's potential and through lots of hard work and dedication (both from themselves and the local community) it has become an exquisite beacon of fine dining excellence and a feast for the eyes.


Having been tastefully restored in keeping with it's former glory, the restaurant has become an icon of New Brighton's potential for culinary excellence, and a trailblazer for fine dining across Wirral.

Since launching in 2018 we have been pioneers of introducing a first-class fine-dining experience to New Brighton (an area close to our hearts).
